SS-31 (Szeto-Schiller peptide 31, elamipretide) is a synthetic tetrapeptide, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2, that accumulates in the inner mitochondrial membrane by binding cardiolipin. Published work describes stabilised cristae architecture, reduced reactive-oxygen-species leakage and altered ATP-synthesis efficiency.
